The Erich Dietsch Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Erich Dietsch Scholarship Memorial Fund was named after the first President of the GASC. Mr. Dietsch was a strong promoter of German culture and German language studies.

It is thanks to his generosity that we are able to offer scholarships to candidates who must meet the following requirements:

  1. be graduating high school students in Miami-Dade County
  2. have a working knowledge of the German language
  3. have studied it for two or more years
  4. plan to continue their German language studies at a university in the United States

If you, a family member, a student, or someone you know meet these requirements, please contact the Scholarship Committee at for more information.

The student should prepare a signed essay in English or German, not to exceed 150 words, telling about his or her experience in German studies, high school GPA, sports and club activities, and volunteer work as well as how German language fits into his or her plans for the future.

Applicants should expect to meet with the committee for a face-to-face interview in German.

Scholarships are awarded during an event held at the club.

The 2017 scholarship winners were: Antonio Huby, Catarina Zientele, Stephan Araujo, and Thomas Schiffer who attended with their parents.  Also present was their German teacher from Coral Reef High School, Mrs. Veronica Valdes, who attended with her husband.
